-Practical Birth Skills workshop-

how to best support labour & birth
with active birth, hypnobirthing, biomechanics and birth partner tools

Next date: 22 March 2026, Kew

Due before then? Not local?

“While the private antenatal classes we did with another provider left me and my partner overwhelmed, Amelie’s practical birth skills workshop made us feel actually informed, prepared and ready. The techniques we explored proved really supportive and meant I was able to labour at home with ease for as long as I wanted”

— Marta

Get yourself and your birth partner equipped and ready to navigate labour & birth, from the first twinge to being settled in bed with your newborn baby.

Understand what approaches and tools best support the birth process,
and what might hinder or derail it (and how to help get it back on track)

Learn tested techniques, tips and tricks to support yourself and your birthing partner at challenging moments, or if birth seems to take a more challenging path.

For anyone wishing for a physiological or low intervention birth,
whether at home, birth centre or in hospital, using pain relief or not

“A very special thank you for your birth skills workshop; I really recommend it to all mamas! I used many of the techniques and had my dream (and speedy!) physiological birth in the water”

— Emilie

What we cover

  • Key aspects of birth physiology & birth biomechanics (how birth & your bodywork) so you understand the ‘why’ of the skills explored, and are able to apply them in YOUR birthing circumstances, with confidence and trust

  • How to best approach each ‘phase’ and ‘key moments’ of labour of labour to support physiology and avoid exhaustion and overwhelm (two key derailers of birth), based on your birth plans

  • Simple but effective tools to approach the sensations & challenges of labour with more calm and and promote supportive birth hormones, including breath, nervous system support techniques, and release techniques

  • How to create space in your pelvis for an easier birth, and when + what specific positions & biomechanics may help facilitate baby’s progress in specific circumstances (including, if you choose to have an epidural)

  • How to support and shorten the ‘pushing’ phase of birth, and reduce your risk of tearing/injury or need for episiotomy

  • What can be tried if labour doesn’t seem to ‘establish, slows or ‘stalls’ before reaching out to further interventions

How we do it

This is a very practical workshop where after an introduction chat about how birth and how bodies work, we journey along the ‘phases’ of labour & birth (from when you think labour is starting, until the birth of your placenta), as if birth was happening.

Although there is a lot of information-sharing, the main focus is on lots of practical exercises and ‘birth rehearsals’, so you and your birth partner can get a sense of how things may look & feel on the day, and explore the skills and tools first-hand.

So you can go beyond the theory of birth prep and practically build confidence in how to best support & positively influence your labour & birth when it actually happens!
