Fertility Yoga in Richmond, London & online

Whether you are thinking or actively trying to conceive naturally, considering or already receiving fertility treatment including IVF, fertility yoga is designed to support you and your body at this stressful and demanding time of your life. A time where you feel the importance and need to look after yourself in a way that is both supportive of your journey trying to conceive, and nourishing for yourself too.

Safe and entirely bespoke to your situation and needs, my one-to-one classes are compatible with all fertility treatments including IVF and IUI, and can complement other holistic therapies you might be receiving, including fertility/ abdominal massage, reflexology or acupuncture.

Yoga when trying to conceive

My approach to fertility yoga focuses on practices to help soothe the nervous system, attend to organs and tissues of the pelvis and lower abdomen, and help you restore a sense of ease and and trust physically, mentally and emotionally.

Practices draw from gentle yoga, somatics (which focus on how movement feels in your body, rather than achieving specific shapes) and mindfulness, and might include slow yoga, somatic movement, restorative poses with props, breathwork, meditative/mindfulness practices and deep relaxation.

These will be adapted to your exact situation and/or phase of assisted conception cycle to best address your needs, and tailored to your body as well, at each stage of our work together.

At this challenging time, when it can feel like your life entirely revolves around trying to make this baby happen, my intention is also to offer you a grounding safe space where you can allow yourself to be just as you are, in the presence and with the support of someone who understands.

How will fertility yoga help

Fertility/infertility issues are always complex. Although there have been some research studies on the effectivity of fertility yoga in helping regulate irregular menstrual cycles and increasing chances of conception through IVF (and sometimes wild claims such as increasing egg quality), these studies are limited and sometimes misrepresentative of what was actually studied.

While I believe in the many multi-layered benefits of yoga & somatic practices, my personal stance is that I do not wish to make any such claims, promises or partake in an industry trying to take advantage of your deep desire to have a baby. This, to me, wouldn’t be ethical.

What I can guarantee however is to make our time and work together supportive of your endeavour and your current situation, whatever the outcome of your journey, and offer tools & practices to help:

  • reduce or manage anxiety, and access better rest & regulation

  • (re)connect with and support your pelvic space

  • address physical discomforts linked to fertility treatment

  • access a renewed sense of trust in your body
